From May of 2017 to May of 2019, Tommy produced one night performances of Shakespeare that were performed in various Los Angeles bars. The actors were assigned their parts, told they were not allowed to rehearse, had to learn their lines on their own, show up, and put on a show. During the two seasons of Trashcan Shakespeare performed 19 Shakespeare plays and 3 Greek plays, brought together over 100 actors, and raised more than $2,000 for Los Angeles youth. Audiences were encouraged to be rowdy, get up for another drink, and be on their phones to take pictures using the hashtag #trashcanshakes.
